EmpCo Checklist 2026: Practical List for Marketing Teams

A compact checklist that a marketing team should work through before every marketing action. 25 points, 5-10 minutes of effort per campaign.

Before the concept: 1. Do we have concrete data/certifications for the statements? 2. Is the product externally certified (ISO, FSC, GOTS, B Corp)? 3. Which advertising statements are prohibited (review per-se prohibitions)? 4. Are there comparable market statements that have been subject to warnings?

During the concept: 5. Are all environmental claims substantiated? 6. Are the substantiations linked on the same page? 7. Are reduction and carbon offsetting shown separately? 8. Are Scope 1+2+3 emissions explicitly stated? 9. Are comparative values (competitors, industry average) documented? 10. Are future promises underpinned by pathways + milestones?

Before Pre-Check: 11. Run an Empcora scan over all new texts. 12. Review AI rephrasing suggestions. 13. For red claims, reformulate or remove. 14. For yellow claims, add substantiation. 15. Involve a compliance reviewer.

Before Publication: 16. Final Pre-Check with Empcora. 17. Written approval from the compliance officer. 18. Documentation of the substantiation (PDF directory). 19. Send updated sitemap to Empcora.

After Publication: 20. 24h Post-Launch scan. 21. 7-day Re-Check. 22. Monitor monitoring score. 23. Immediate reaction to warnings (< 24h).

Every 3 Months: 24. Compliance review of all employees (1h training). 25. Market observation (which competitor advertisements are being warned against?).

Special Notes: For seasonal campaigns (Christmas, Black Friday): special audit 2 weeks before launch. For new language versions: separate audit per language. For influencer campaigns: briefing of partners with a list of prohibitions.

Conclusion: The compliance checklist should become part of the standard marketing briefing template.
